Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is the most invasive and aggressive form of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Contrary to what most Westerners think about the the term “herb”, in Chinese herbal medicine the term encompasses plants as well as resins, minerals and at times animals and insects. Each herb is categorized by different characteristics including but not limited to, the five elements, natures, temperatures and flavors.
When using Chinese herbs they can be taken internally or externally. The most common forms to take are teas, in which the herbs are boiled for a specified period of time, pills, liniments, balms/rubs or herbal washes. At Stone Guardian most of our internal herbal formula are taken in the form of a concentrated tea.
The use of Chinese herbal medicine can be applied to any age patient. It can be used to address many different emotional and/or physical trauma or pain. As with all forms of therapeutic herbal medicine it is vital that anyone interested in pursuing its use do so only under the supervision of a licensed practitioner that trained in this skill for the best results and the safest use.
Chinese Herbal Medicine is but one corner stone of Chinese medicine and best when implemented along side the other three pillars.
