Tuina is a form of Therapeutic massage combining stretches with more traditional massage. The name itself translates as Tui, pushing and Na, grasping.
Tuina has been used for a variety of applications but really shines in two. The first is as adjunctive care to Acupuncture when treating muscle, joint and bone pain. This is the most common application used by Acupuncturists in America.
The second application is as a stand alone Pediatric care system. Many children can benefit from Tuina alone and forego the needles. This can be very useful with kids that are nervous about Acupuncture.
Tuina is but one corner stone of Chinese medicine and best when implemented along side the other three pillars.
